Handmade in Kochi, Japan by Naoto Hirano. The Senka-shi paper is traditionally a double-layered paper where two sheets of paper are placed on top of the other to make a paper of double thickness. This papermaking method originated in Ehime prefecture, and there are only three households that make paper with this technique.
Another unique aspect of Tokawa Senka-shi is that instead of using tororo-aoi for their neri, they use the root of a tree called Aogiri.
The papers are dried on wooden boards so each sheet will have a slight wood grain texture. Made with 100% Japanese Kozo.
