Description:
Join us for a beginner friendly Collagraph Workshop taught by artist Vanessa Chow. A collagraph is a technique where materials are glued or adhered to a rigid surface to create a plate, which is then inked and printed. The term collagraph combines collage and graph, reflecting the use of collage elements on a plate to create an image. Collagraphs are a fun and simple way to print your own designs, without the need for complex tools or expensive materials.
Feel free to bring in some images or sketches that you'd want to make into prints, or freestyle it on the day of!
* Suitable for ages 6 and up! (with an adult accompanying them)
About the Instructor:
Vanessa Chow was born in Hong Kong and currently lives and works in Los Angeles. She received her M.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design. Vanessa makes work that is low tech, human scale. Her subject matter is usually inspired by the hundred of hours spent looking and being in the Pacific Ocean. She is interested in things that are profoundly handmade and things that are sustainable to the environment. Exploring the element of play is a common theme in her work.
