    HM-1 Tengucho/Tengujo Ash (11g/m²)

    Size: 21" x 31"
    Weight: 11 g/m²

    Made in Kochi, Japan.
Made with Soda Ash, for Caustic Soda handmade Tengucho please see HM-0

When these incredibly thin sheets are formed, the vigorous shaking of the paper making mould causes the water to dance splendidly. In the past, hundreds of people made Tengucho. However today there is only one family that can create it. This papermaking tradition has been handed down from Saijo Hamada, the national living treasure, to his grandson, Hironao Hamada, the 4th generation.

Our Tengucho is the finest quality. The fibers are cooked with soda ash (haini), making this paper optimal for conservation use. Made with 100% Japanese kozo.

Tengujo is another term for Tengucho.
