Description: 

This workshop will introduce students to the basics of bookbinding. Participants will learn basic techniques for creating hardcover books such as covering book boards, folding, and sewing. Participants will come away from the workshop with their own hardcover and accordion and pamphlet books, perfect for journaling, photo albums, sketchbooks and more!

Learn to create hardcover accordion books, hardcover pamphlet books with fold outs, and dos a dos books.

Please bring an x-acto knife or a pair of scissors. All other materials will be provided.

Instructor:

Rachel Curry is a teaching artist, letterpress printer, bookbinder and fiber artist from Los Angeles, California. She has experience teaching at institutions such as Otis College of Art and Design and The Huntington Library as well as high schools and community organizations across Southern California. Her practice as an artist and an educator is rooted in the belief that art is for everyone and that it is possible to build a better world through creative expression.
